Information About FIRST Tech Challenge
What is FIRST?
First Tech Challenge is part of an organization called FIRST which stands for For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology. It is a non-profit organization that inspires students to become STEM leaders. FIRST has 4 programs that range from Pre-K to grade 12.
What is the First Tech Challenge?
First Tech Challenge is a robotics program that inspires kids to be leaders and innovative thinkers. FTC challenges kids to think outside of the box and promote kids to use an engineering process mindset. FTC is a great balance of Core Values, thinking skills, and programming/building robots. The three main parts of FTC are mechanical, software, and lastly outreach i.e. giving back to your community. All of these aspects are important but, mostly remember to HAVE FUN!

Requirements to do FTC
- For 7th to 12th graders
- Have to have a team and maximum amount of people is 15
- Have a working space and it can be in a school or at your house. The space should be big enough to hold a mat and robot.
- You will need access to computers.
- Two-parent or teacher mentors to guide and sponsor you.
